Meet our trustees and… get involved.

We are always looking for new trustees to get involved with this local project. As we grow, so does our need for support, expertise and fresh eyes. If you are able to contribute towards Just Row Gloucestershire moving forward in an all inclusive and positive direction, we’d love to hear from you.

Indiajane Cox

Founder and Trustee

Indiajane gave up her career as an Art Director working for the Financial Times Weekend Magazine to look after her children and soon discovered rowing at Twickenham Rowing Club, London. After a number of years rowing on the tideway for London Rowing Club, Quentin and Mortlake, left the city for Gloucestershire with her three children where she set up Just Row Gloucestershire. As well as working on this initiative, she coaches juniors to row at local schools in the area.

Rebecca Lees

Trustee

Rebecca started rowing in early 2012 and quickly began helping others to learn to row as the sport had a rapid growth after the Olympics. As a member of Gloucester Rowing Club she became involved in all elements of the club from coaching learn to row sessions, organising events, coxing and made significant efforts in fundraising to help the build of the boat house. Rebecca frequently competed in both local and national rowing events.

As an experienced logistics professional used to managing a wide range of people she loves to bring her motivational approach and energy to JRG whilst enjoying the opportunity to help others gain through this fantastic sport.

Chris Widden

Trustee

Chris started rowing in 1972 at a London club. After relocating to Cheltenham, he continued rowing competitively, became captain at Evesham and instrumental in introducing and developing junior rowing at the club.

After a brief period of "retirement" from the sport in the early1990s, he returned to coaching with an opportunity to head up The Cheltenham Ladies' College boat club. At the time it was no more than a Saturday afternoon "activity" for a handful of 6th form girls and for him a pleasant weekend recreation. That soon changed.

Chris was appointed Head of Rowing in 2000 and while combining his legal career, grew the club steadily, from a handful of 6th form girls to a 60 strong, competitive club by 2014.

Since retiring Chris has been heavily involved with Gloucester Rowing Club as a coach, having in the past helped to run many junior and adult learn to row courses, and more recently coaching adult recreational rowers. He also sits on the club's regatta committee helping to organise the annual regatta and bi-annual long distance head races.

For the last eight years Chris has been a governor/trustee at Churchdown School Academy where he served as Chair for four years and is currently Vice-Chair.

He has a wealth of knowledge and understanding about rowing, rowing coaching, rowing club management and junior/schools rowing as well as in depth technical knowledge of boats and equipment plus long term training and awareness of safeguarding matters.
